Willis Lee Napier, a devoted family man, cherished community member, and respected veteran, entered into rest peacefully on Tuesday, April 14, 2026. Born on October 27, 1936, in Hiltons, Virginia, he lived a life marked by dedication, service, and a deep commitment to his faith and loved ones.

Willis was a proud graduate of Hilton High School. Following his education, he honorably served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force and the US Army National Guard. His service underscored a lifetime commitment to discipline and patriotism that was evident throughout his years.

Professionally, Willis made substantial contributions to the world of research during his working career at Eastman Chemical Company. He was respected by colleagues for his dedication and expertise.

Deeply rooted in his spiritual calling, Willis Napier was a minister of the gospel, a role through which he touched many lives with his compassion and unwavering faith. He embraced his faith not only in the pulpit but in everyday joys and gatherings.

Willis was a man of varied interests and passions. He loved to sing, filling rooms with the joy and warmth of his voice. He found great pleasure in hunting and fishing, often sharing these moments of tranquility and camaraderie with family and friends.

He was born to William Lee Napier and Sarah Kate (Cross) Napier, who are now reunited with him in eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette Newcomb Napier, his sisters, Georgia Oliver, Priscilla Goode, and Sandra Odum; and by his brothers, Billy Napier, James Napier, Raymond Napier, and Lonnie Napier.

Willis leaves behind a devoted family who carry forward his legacy of love and devotion. He is survived by his sons, Jeff Napier and Rex Napier; his sister, Beulah Napier; his brother, Danny Napier; 2 step-daughters, mother of his children, Carolyn Quillen Bright, as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation to honor and remember Willis Lee Napier will be held on Thursday, April 16, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Darthula Baptist Church, located at 1741 Lunsford Mill Rd, Hiltons, VA. This will be followed immediately by his funeral service, beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor Robbie Dockery officiating. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Willis are invited to attend to celebrate a life well-lived.

Military honors provided by American Legion Hammond Post 3/265 will follow the funeral service at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park, Blountville, TN where Willis will be laid to rest.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Napier, Rex Napier, Brad Shaffer, Rodney Lane, Danny Napier and Jimmy Darnell

Willis Lee Napier’s life was a testament to commitment—through military service, professional endeavor, ministry, and family. He will be deeply missed yet fondly remembered for his steadfast spirit and loving heart. His memory will forever be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
