Tyler Eugene Lane, a devoted family man and compassionate individual, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2026, at Nova Health and Rehab. Born on April 3, 1957, in Kingsport, Tennessee, Tyler was known for his loving and kind nature, touching the lives of many throughout his 68 years.
Tyler dedicated 12 years to his work in dietary services at Nova Health and Rehab, where his commitment and gentle spirit were deeply valued by colleagues and residents alike. Outside of his professional life, Tyler found immense joy in outdoor pursuits, especially hunting and fishing, passions that reflected his appreciation for nature and quiet moments of reflection.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Hill, who stood by his side with unwavering support. Also surviving are his children, Lee Smith and his wife Nickie, Jonathan Hill and his wife Jerriann, and Amber Hill and her husband Jeff Arnold. His family was further blessed with eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, each a testament to the strong family bonds he helped nurture.
Tyler's close relationships extended to his siblings, including his sisters Goldie Hilton and husband Eric, Janette Flixon, Brenda Barbour and John Fischer, Margaret Osborne and her husband Andy, as well as his brother William Lane. In addition, he is fondly remembered by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Margaret (Hall) Lane and William Marshall Lane, his sister Ann Lane, and his brothers Bobby Lane and Billy Lane.
A visitation to honor Tyler’s memory will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church,168 Greenwood Chapel Drive, Nickelsville, VA. and anytime at the residence. Service will follow at 6:00 PM with Pastor Donnie Archer officiating. Music will be provided by Lisa and Mark McCracken. These ceremonies will offer family and friends the opportunity to celebrate a life marked by kindness, dedication, and the gentle strength of a truly loving man.
The community and all who knew Tyler will remember him for his steadfast kindness, his generous heart, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life. His enduring spirit remains a source of comfort and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
