Shirley Sampson Jennings

Shirley Sampson Jennings, 89, of Kingsport and formerly of Weber City, VA, entered into rest on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at the home of her daughter, Rhonda Bright surrounded by her loving family. 

She was born in Hiltons, VA on June 7, 1936, a daughter of the late Rawn and Hattie Sampson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, Berl Jennings; granddaughter, Amy Bright; grandson, Mitchell Bright; sister, Jean Davis; brothers, Jack Sampson and Bobby Sampson.

Shirley was a member of Holston View Methodist Church where she attended for many years. She was a loving wife, mom, nannie, sister, aunt and friend and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends who loved and cherished her.

Surviving are her daughters, Rhonda (Jerry Kenner) Bright and Terri Hall; grandkids, Chad (Lori White) Morgan, Justin (Elizabeth Perry) Morgan, Caleb Bright and wife Anna, and Josh Bright; great-grandkids, Charlie Morgan, Lola Morgan, Genieve Morgan, Ariana Morgan, Aden Morgan and Colton Bright; sister, Peggy Hostutler; brother, Roger Sampson and wife Patty; several nieces, nephews and special niece, Debbie Quillen.

The family will receive friends anytime at the home of her daughter, Rhonda Bright.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, November 14, 2025 at Holston View Cemetery with Pastor Chuck Griffin officiating. Family and friends planning to attend are asked to meet at 1:50 pm at the cemetery for the graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Roger Sampson, Chad Morgan, Caleb Bright, Adam Sampson, Charlie Morgan and Josh Bright.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry Kenner and Mark Sampson.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt special thank you to her caregiver Ellie Scalf.
