Sharon Yvonne (Monroe) Glover, a cherished mother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 26, 2026, at her home in the loving embrace of her family. Born on November 2, 1951, in Sullivan County, Tennessee, Sharon’s spirit shone brightly throughout her life, enlightening everyone she encountered.
A dedicated caregiver at the Village in Church Hill, Sharon’s compassion and nurturing nature reflected her deep commitment to others. It was no surprise that her light radiated most strongly to those she cared for, making a lasting impact on the lives of many. Her education at Gate City High School laid the foundation for a life dedicated to service, and her proudest accomplishment was her title as Miss Gate City in 1969, a testament to her vibrant personality and charm.
Sharon was a devoted member of Oak Glen Baptist Church, where she found joy and fellowship. Her faith was a guiding force in her life, providing strength and comfort through the ups and downs that life presented.
Left to carry on her loving legacy are her daughter and son-in-law, Misty Blackburn Greer and Joe Greer; her stepson Michael Blackburn; her beloved sisters Judy Taylor and Agnes Lucas; and several nieces and nephews who cherished their Aunt Sharon deeply. Their lives were enriched by her warmth, kindness, and wisdom, leaving unforgettable memories that will be treasured forever.
Sharon is now reunited with her deceased family members, including her father Malcolm Monroe, mother Winnie Haynes Monroe, her sisters Shirley Monroe and Wilma Monroe, and her brothers Melvin, Doug, Colen, and Marvin Monroe. She will also be missed by her nephew Ronald Edwards and great nephew Hunter Taylor, as they hold her close in their hearts.
A graveside service to honor Sharon's life will be held on February 2, 2026, at Haynes Cemetery in the Yuma Community of Gate City, Virginia, starting at 3:15 PM. with Pastor Danny Sykes officiating. Music will be provided by Pat Sykes and Roger Bowen. Friends and family are welcome to gather at the old Oak Glen Baptist Church at 2:50 pm to go in procession to the cemetery. Your warm memories and the love you shared will continue to keep her spirit alive among us all.
Pallbearers will be Joe Greer, Joe Blackburn, Barry Glen, Regan McMurray, Jack Sanders and Jeff Taylor.
Jonathan Lucas will be an honorary pallbearer.
