Scarlett "Scottie" Diane North, a cherished alternative education school teacher, passed away peacefully at her home in Bristol, TN on February 15, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on December 13, 1948, Scarlett dedicated her life to shaping the minds of young learners and nurturing their potential. A graduate of Bluff City High School in 1968, she carried the spirit of education and inspiration throughout her career, leaving an indelible mark on countless students and their families.
A vibrant member of Steele Creek Missionary Baptist Church, Scarlett embraced her faith with warmth and devotion, fostering a strong sense of community that brought together those around her. Her nurturing nature extended beyond the classroom. Scarlett was known as a loving pet parent, and her home was filled with the joy brought by her beloved fur babies, Ollie the dog, and her cats, Sylvester and Skittles.
The light of Scarlett’s life also included her surviving son, Chantz Salyer and daughter-in-law, Sarah, who will carry forward the values, lessons, and love she imparted. Though Scarlett is mourned deeply, her spirit will continue to resonate through her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.
