Mary Ellen Price, beloved wife, mother, grandma, and friend, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 9, 2026, in Bristol, TN. Born on August 24, 1940, in Speers Ferry, VA, Mary was a cherished daughter of Evan and Lula Phillips.

Throughout her rich and full life, Mary embodied kindness, warmth, and a steadfast devotion to family and faith. She was known among all who loved her as a loving wife to her devoted husband of almost 68 years Wendell Price, a devoted mother to her children Beth Lucas, Steve (Renee) Price, and Mike (Jennifer) Price, and a proud grandmother and great-grandmother to a close-knit and growing family.

Mary’s legacy is lovingly carried on by her grandchildren: Alex Price, Dillion Price, Austin Price, Alyssa Price, Brynne Lucas, Heath Kleineick, and Andrew Glover. She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Annabelle Brown, Andrew Brown, Drake Price, Addison Glover, Ashlyn Glover, Cash Glover, Elsa Kleineick, and Esma Kleineick. Several nieces and nephews, as well as many dear friends, remember her fondly for her warmth, caring spirit, and unwavering faith.

Each relationship she maintained left a mark of love and lasting memory.

Mary dedicated many years of her working life to caring for children, retiring from her cherished role in Child Care at First Broad Street United Methodist Church in Kingsport, Tennessee. Her nurturing presence and genuine affection for all children made a profound and lasting impact. A woman of deep faith, she was a faithful member of Higher Ground Baptist Church, where she found joy in fellowship and service to the Lord.

Of all her accomplishments, those dearest to Mary’s heart were the roles she played among her family—as a loving wife, mom, grandma, and treasured friend. Her nurturing nature and gentle spirit created a haven of warmth and comfort for all whose lives she touched. To those who knew her, Mary will be forever remembered for her generosity, humility, and steadfast faith.
