In Loving Memory of Mary “Ruth” Hillman

With heavy hearts, Mary “Ruth” Hillman, passed peacefully on July 23rd, at the age of 90, surrounded by her loving family.

Ruth was born on October 29, 1935.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 71 years, Thomas Hillman; her children, Randy Hillman and his wife, Lynn, Teresa Moody and her husband, Gerald, and Sharon Good and her husband, Rick; her grandchildren, Clint Hillman and his wife, Sarah, Hannah Hodge and her husband, Tanner, Israel Moody and his fiancée, Sophia, and Jordan Good; her great-granddaughter, Ila Hodge, daughter of Hannah and Tanner; her brothers, Jack Taylor and Joe Benton Taylor; her sisters, Merle Smith, Debra Gilmer, and Cleo Lark; and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Lotus Taylor, and her brother, Tom Taylor; and a niece and nephew.

A graveside service with burial to follow will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 25th at Nickelsville Cemetery, Nickelsville, Virginia. with Rev. Steve Collins officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend. Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Nickelsville Baptist Church, 11606 Nickelsville Hwy, Nickelsville, VA 24271.

Ruth will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. She found great joy in working among her flowers, spending time with those she loved, and creating beautiful quilts. For Ruth, caring for others was her way of showing love. Whether through a kind gesture, a helping hand, a home-cooked meal, or a handmade quilt, her acts of service reflected the love she carried in her heart. “Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth” (1 John 3:18)

Ruth will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her. Her legacy of love, kindness, faith, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Her gentle hands are now at rest,
Her loving heart is still;
Though she has left this earthly home,
Her warmth remains with us still.
In every quilt, in every flower,
In memories held dear,
Her love will live within our hearts,
As God holds her ever near.
