Larry Clarence Darnell

Larry Clarence Darnell, 75, of the Alley Valley Community in Ft. Blackmore, VA, entered into rest on Friday, November 7, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born in Kingsport, TN on December 30, 1949, a son of the late Clarence Drew Darnell and Vlondie Lea (Quillen) Darnell. Larry retired as a chemical operator from Eastman Chemical Company after over 40 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 22 years, Retha K. Darnell; step-daughter, Allison Godsey Hanline and husband Michael; step-son, Nathan Godsey; grandson, Lucas Hanline; several cousins and extended family members.

The family will receive friends anytime at 1700 Bristol Hwy, Gate City, VA.

Services will be held at 6:00 pm Monday, November 10, 2025 at Hiltons Memorial United Methodist Church, 2869 Hilton Rd, Gate City, VA. with Pastor Corey Miller officiating. Music will be provided by Mona Carter. The church is providing a meal of comfort after the service in the fellowship hall for all the family and friends.

Larry will be laid to rest next to his father at the Darnell Family Cemetery in a private family graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Nathan Godsey, Jonathan Blankenbecler, Charles Darnell, Bill Darnell and Rick Darnell.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Starnes, Gary Darnell and Albee David Calhoun.
