After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Kathy Lynn Wright passed away at home on Friday, January 16. She was a beloved mother, sister, daughter, aunt, and friend.

Kathy spent most of her life in Scott County, VA, and was a graduate of the Gate City High School class of 1987. A true free spirit, Kathy moved through life with curiosity, compassion, and a boundless capacity for love. She will be remembered for the kindnesses she never failed to show to others.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Jesse Dylan Wright, and her father, Ward Edward Wright.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Daniel Falin, loving partner, Shannon Bishop, mother, Jean Wright, sisters Thelma Hensley (Danny) and Betty McMurray (Terry), niece Kala Ball (Cody), nephews Chad Hensley (Tiffany), Kelly Hensley, and Austin McMurray (Ashley). She also leaves behind four great nieces and nephews, Alex Hensley, Rhiley Ball, Jason McMurray, and Jaxon McMurray.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 20, at Hermon United Methodist Church, 5395 E. Carters Valley Rd, Gate City, VA, from 11-1. Services will follow at 1 p.m. with Reverend Ray Amos officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Kathy’s final request was to be laid to rest beside her son Jesse.
