James "Jim" Solomon Osborne, 76, of Nickelsville, VA, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026, in Kingsport, TN.
He was born on October 7, 1949, in Kingsport, TN, a son of the late Charles Livingston Osborne and Ruth Davis Osborne.
The life that Jim lived wrote his own obituary. He touched countless lives in the 35 years of his career as a teacher. His teaching went beyond the classroom. He taught all those that knew him by his actions. He was dedicated, loyal, compassionate, had an uncompromising work ethic, and his integrity was unimpeachable. He has left a legacy of love and knowledge for farming. Forever known as an exemplary steward of the farm he called home. He will be missed deeply by all that called him Dad, Pa, Great Pa, brother, uncle, and friend.
Jim is survived by his sons, Nathan Osborne and his wife Chelsea, Lousiville, TN and Andy Osborne and his wife Margaret, Nickelsville, VA. He will also be fondly remembered by his sister, Betty Jane Greene of Nickelsville, VA, and his brother, Johnny Osborne, Charleston, SC. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Amanda Johnson and her husband Andy, Gate City, VA, Andrew Osborne, Manhattan, KS, and Jayden Osborne, Nickelsville, VA. The joy he found in family extends into the next generation with his great-grandchildren, Lily Johnson and William Johnson, Gate City, VA.
A celebration of life in honor of Jim will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Keith Memorial Park, 163 Spartan Band Avenue, Nickelsville, VA. This gathering will serve as a testament to the lasting impact he made on those who knew him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Jim's memory may be made to Fort Blackmore Center of Excellence, 214 Big Stoney Creek Rd, Fort Blackmore, VA 24250.
