Jacqueline Denise "Jackie" Rose Surber, 61, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at Ascension Saint Thomas Hospital, Nashville, TN. 

Jackie was born in Bristol, TN, a daughter of the late Whitney "Whit" Clay Carter and Marlena Francis Smith Carter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her late husband Donald Lynn Rose; father-in-law, Kenneth Roger Rose; mother-in-law, Lois Faye Broadwater Rose; sister-in-law, Eileen Denise Rose and brother-in-law, Douglas Ben Rose.

Jackie was a member of Greenwood Chapel Baptist Church. She volunteered for the Nickelsville Rescue Squad in the late 90's and worked at Teddy's Restaurant for a while and for Fredia Combs in her greenhouse. She was a very good care giver to both her parents and her late husband Don as well as her husband Bob. She loved gardening and working in her greenhouse and always had beautiful flowers. She dearly loved both her boys. They were her world.

Surviving are her husband Robert "Bob" Surber; sons, Roger Rose and Terry Rose; nephew, Jason Vicars; brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Patsy Surber; sister-in-law, Donna Rose; special brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Joyce Vicars; special friends, Donnie and Darlene Archer; all her church family and many other friends and neighbors.

The family would like to thank Dr. Metzger for going above and beyond for trying to help Jackie with all her health issues. We will always be grateful God placed him in our lives.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, August 14, 2026 at Nickelsville Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA with Brother Donnie Archer and Pastor Matt Cook officiating. Music will be provided by Dontha Walton. Family and friends are welcome to meet at 10:50 am at the cemetery for the graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Roger Rose, Terry Rose, Larry Vicars, Billy Broadwater, Scotty Lucas, Ed Surber and Michael Riggs.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Vicars, Dr. DeMotts and Dr. Metzger.
