Hobart Kelly Adams

Hobart Kelly Adams, age 78 of Gate City, Virginia, entered this life on February 7, 1947 in Kingsport, Tennessee and departed this life on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. He was a loving son of the late Maurice and Ellen Horton Adams. He was raised in the Manville community and was a 1965 graduate of Gate City High School. He received his degree from Emory & Henry University in 1969. Then he earned his master's degree from Union Commonwealth University. He was inducted in the U.S. Army in July of 1969 and served in Vietnam until 1971. He taught school in several elementary schools in Scott County, Virginia and then retired from the Scott County Public School System.

After retirement he enjoyed playing tennis and golf.  He loved watching his favorite baseball team the New York Yankees, on TV and doing crossword puzzles.

Hobart will be missed by his brother Ronnie and his wife Carolyn Crafton Adams of Bedford, Kentucky. His Aunt Allie Horton Davidson and her husband Bill of Duffield, Virginia and several cousins.  His father died on April 16, 2005; his mother, Ellen Adams, on February 8, 1998; and his infant sister, Ethel Louise Adams, on July 5, 1949.

In accordance with his wishes, cremation was chosen and no services will be held. Interment will be in the Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tennessee.
