Frances Edith McCloud, beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 9, 2026, at her residence in Kingsport, TN. Born on November 28, 1948, she was a lifelong resident of Kingsport and dedicated much of her life to caring for others.
Frances worked diligently at Steadman Hills as a caretaker, where she provided compassionate support to those in her care. Her professional journey continued as the Manager of Amaysing Produce in Kingsport, a role that allowed her to connect with the community through her dedication and love for her work.
Frances is survived by her loving family, which includes her sons, Billy Lawson and wife Donna, Matt McCloud; daughters Amy Bean and fiancé Tim Mays, Clara Kerns and husband Buddy, Rhonda Jones, and Rebecka Ball. She also cherished her step-daughter Lisa Hammonds and her sister Clara Amy Patricia McKinney. Frances held a special bond with her cousin, JE Mauk, who was considered family.
In addition to her immediate family, she is surrounded by the love of several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, each of whom will forever carry the memory of Frances in their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Jerry Guy McCloud; her father, Lucian Tiny Lawson; her mother, Celesta Pearl Barrett Lawson; and her brother, Lucian Earl Lawson. The legacy of Frances's kindness and warmth will be remembered deeply by all who knew her.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, January 16, 2026 at Hamlett-Dobson Memorial Park, 2630 TN-75, Blountville, TN. Family and friends are welcome to meet at 2:50 pm at the cemetery.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Frances on January 18, 2026, at Word of Life Church in Kingsport, TN. The services will begin at 2:30 PM with Rev. Jackie Begley and Joel Morton officiating, with a gathering of family and friends to honor her memory and the impact she had on the lives she touched.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
Frances Edith McCloud will be greatly missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her loved ones.
