Ellen Beatrice "Bea" Dingus, a cherished member of the Nickelsville community, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, April 12, 2026. Born on April 8, 1956, in Scott County, Virginia, Bea lived a life marked by warmth, generosity, and a deep love for those around her.
Bea was a graduate of Twin Springs High School, Class of 1974, and carried with her the values and friendships nurtured during those formative years throughout her entire life. Her career spanned 27 years at J&P Markets, where she was known not only for her dedication but also for her friendly and outgoing spirit that touched the lives of many customers and colleagues alike.
A woman of faith, Bea was a devoted Christian who found solace and strength in her attendance at the House of Prayer Church. Her spirit was as vibrant as her love for engaging conversations; she loved talking to people and was an outgoing person all around. Bea’s interests were as varied as they were heartfelt—she delighted in genealogy, keeping her family’s history alive and vivid. She was also meticulous in remembering every family birthday, making sure to call and extend her warm wishes, a testament to her caring and thoughtful nature.
Creativity blossomed in Bea’s hands as she skillfully crafted flower arrangements, a hobby through which she expressed her artistic soul. Her home and heart were full of color and life, echoing her gentle and imaginative personality.
Bea's family and friends will remember her fondly. She is survived by her loving brother, Billy Carl Fletcher, and his wife June, of Newport News, Virginia, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who cherished her presence. She will also be deeply missed by her special fur baby, Little Bit, who was a beloved companion in her later years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Wayne Dingus; her parents, Victor Byron and Rebecca (Lucas) Fletcher; her sister, Christine Lord; and her brothers, Jereial Fletcher, Wayne Fletcher, and Bill Lucas. The legacy of their bond and the memories they shared will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Services honoring Bea’s life will be held on April 17, 2026, beginning with a visitation at Copper Creek Primitive Baptist Church (Addington Frame) located at 2238 Addington Frame Rd, Nickelsville, Virginia, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM with Elder Harmon Willis officiating. Music will be provided by Greg and Becky White. Bea will then be laid to rest at Odell Valley Cemetery on Odell Valley Lane, Nickelsville, VA.
Pallbearers will be Levi Castle, Brady Castle, Larry Joe Price, Frank Taylor, Michael Addington and Tim Addington.
Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Addington, Allen Addington, Leo Hammonds, and Gary Broadwater.
Though we mourn the loss of a beloved soul, we also celebrate the beautiful tapestry of love, kindness, and joy Bea wove throughout her 70 years. Her spirit will live on in the stories shared, the flowers arranged, and the unending warmth extended to all who had the privilege to know her. Ellen Beatrice "Bea" Dingus touched many hearts, and her memory will forever be a blessing.
