Charles "Wayne" Miller, 84, born February 27, 1942, went home to be with Jesus on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
Wayne was born in Greeneville, TN to E. Ray and Grace Noe Miller. He worked at Kingsport Press for nearly 40 years and retired in 2003.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Weber City, now called Gateway Baptist Church since 1975.
Wayne was a veteran of the US Army serving 2 1/2 years in Germany with the 590 Transportation Company.
Preceding him in death are his grandparents, Worley and Suda Miller, his parents, E. Ray and Grace Noe Miller, his sister, Judy Ray Miller.
Surviving is his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Sherry Kinkead Miller whom he called "my lovely"; sons, Richard Miller and Stephen (Melissa) Miller; grandson, Joshua S. Miller, whom he dearly loved and was so proud of him. Joshua brought us such Blessings and Joy.; his brothers, Johnny C. (Ina Rhea) Miller, Earnest J. Miller, and Gerald T. Miller and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Military graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, October 6, 2026 at Holston View Cemetery with American Legion Hammond Post 3 of Kingsport and Post 265 of Gate City providing the military honors. Pastor Jeff Deboard will officiate. Friends are welcome to gather at 1:50 PM at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be John Miller, Mickey Miller, Brett Kinkead, Joshua Miller, Johnny B Howard, and Anthony Hass.
Honorary pallbearers will be Otis Rhoton and Kent Snapp.
Many thanks to Caris Health Care for such kindness and caring they gave, especially Amanda as well as to Dr. Kevin Misischia whom Wayne and Sherry loved, considered him a friend and a great Doctor.
