Bobby Lee Mays passed away peacefully, surrounded by the family he loved so dearly. He shared that it was the greatest honor of his life to be in their presence, and having them by his side in his final moments was his greatest comfort. A proud veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard for seven years, Bobby carried the values of discipline and service into his career as a licensed, self-employed plumber.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Thomas Leonard and Edith Estelle Mays, and his brother, Michael Mays.
Bobby is survived by the loves of his life, his children, Justin, Casey, and Emily Mays Isbel; his grandchildren, Triston, Amelia, and Kyleign Rogers, and Collin Isbel; his siblings, Vicki Keys, Janie Mays Powers, and David Mays; his nieces and nephews, Amy, Laura, Kathy, Kenny, Wendy, Tim, Heather, and Haley. He leaves behind a host of additional family and friends who will miss his strength and his heart.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Friday, April 10, 2026 at Calvary Worship Center, 500 Lucy Rd, Kingsport, TN. Services will be held at 2:00 pm with Chan Bishop and Rev. Charles Bogle officiating. Interment will follow the service at East Lawn Memorial Park with American Legion Hammond Post 3/265 providing military honors.
Pallbearers will be Doug Kilgore, Isaiah Johnson, Kenny Keith, Johnny Lynn, John Harris and Dahlya Henderson.
