Bobbie Jo Sanders was born November 2, 1940. She joined Pendletons FWB Church when she was a teenager. She attended grade school there and raised her family in that church. She sang in the choir and was Treasurer of the Building Fund.
She was a 1960 graduate of Rye Cove High School. She married the love of her life on August 20, 1960. She raised her children in church, took her grandchildren to church, and taught them all about the Lord. Her and Russell worked hard to make sure they had what they needed. Her grandkids, great-grandkids, sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, and cousins were all very special and she loved them very much.
Surviving are her husband, Russell Sanders Ft. Blackmore, VA; Sons, Robert (Sonia) Sanders Ft. Blackmore, VA, Richard (Paula) Sanders Mt. Carmel, TN, and Kevin (Melissa) Sanders Duffield, VA; Daughter, Julie (Keith) Gibson Duffield, VA; 10 Granddaughters: Tanaya, Miranda, Raysha, Ashleigh, Amanda, Katelyn, Kristin, and Emily Sanders and Kendra and Chloe Gibson; 8 Great-Grandsons and 5 Great-Granddaughters; Brother, Jim (Peggy) Dingus; Sister, Sue Puckett; Special Sister-In-Law, friend, and caregiver: Jade Lee; Special Friends, Sue Smith, Doris Begley, and Lakie Presley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Bob and Cordia Dingus; Great-Granddaughter, Lainey Kate; Siblings, Charlie, Troy, Orbin, Roy, Rosa Lee, Julie Mae, Emmitt, Mary, Faye, Helen, John, Bill, Nellie, and Kate; Special Nephew, Phillip Dingus.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 pm Monday, May 11, 2026 at Pendleton's Freewill Baptist Church, 7591 Rye Cove Memorial Rd, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at the church with Brother Bill Tignor and Son and Pastor Kevin Sanders officiating. Eulogy speakers will be Sue Smith and Ruby Rogers.
Burial will follow the service in Sanders-Stewart Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA.
Pallbearers will be Keith Gibson, Aden Sanders, Travis Weddle, Scotty Hillman, Garrett Dougherty, Landon Smith, Paul Thomas, and Steven Lawson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Brickey, Harold Hall, Jacob Beavers, Freddy Carter, Jeff Watson, Chris McCloud, Doug Presley, CH Presley, Larry A. Lane, Greg Lawson, Nephews and Men of Pendleton's Church.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Caris, Elisha Barnett, and Sonia for their Loving Care.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to someone in need or to a charitable organization of your choosing in memory of Bobbie Jo Sanders.
