Betty S. Renfro, age 79, of Gate City, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on February 10, 2026.
She was born on October 6, 1946, to the late Ernest Amburgey and Martha Bowen Amburgey.
Betty devoted much of her life to serving others, spending many years feeding the people of Scott County at the Quick Stop Market Deli in Weber City, where she was well known for her biscuits and gravy and the county’s best hamburgers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Renfro, and her grandson, Reece Walters.
She is survived by her daughters, Misty Kern (Kip) and Krystal Walters (Stacy); her grandson, Jakson Burke; her sisters, Shirley Roach (Tom), Mary Roach (Henry), and Dora Amburgey; her brothers, Kenny Amburgey (Betty) and Bob Amburgey (Robin); along with several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 13, 2026 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in the Midway Community with Elder Bill LaFollette officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather at 10:50 am at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Kip Kern, Stacy Walters, Jeff Baker, Jason Baker, Travis Roach, and Kelly Baldwin.
