Anita Gibson Baker

Anita Gibson Baker, 77, of Weber City, VA, passed away unexpectedly October 24, 2025 at Holston Valley Medical Center surrounded by her family.

Anita was born May 18, 1948 to the late Junior Gibson and Alma Peters Gibson. She was a loving mother, Nanny, Mamaw, Sister, and friend to all who knew her. She loved her family and doing all she could for them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Baker; infant brothers, Gene and Herman; brothers, Harless Gibson, Wilburn Gibson; son, Ronnie Meade.

Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Beverley Bowen; her pride and joy her great-grandson, Nathan Penley; grandsons, Justin Penley and Brandon Meade; brothers, Tim Gibson and Ross Gibson; sister, Kim Necessary; daughter-in-law, Shelia Meade; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special niece, Rosie.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at Darthula Baptist Church, 1741 Lunsford Mill Rd, Hiltons, VA. Services will follow at 7:00 pm with Brother Rick Quillen officiating. Music will be provided by Matthew and Sherry Vanzant, Vanessa Gibson, Mike Taylor, Brad Quillen, Grayson Hurst and the Gibson Girls.

Graveside services will be held at 12 noon Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at Darthula Church Cemetery. Family and friends planning to attend are asked to meet at the church at 11:30 am for the graveside service.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Gibson, Tony Gibson, Justin Penley, Johnny Gibson, Nick Necessary, and Brandon Meade. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lynn Penley and Johnny Mann.
