Alethea Anne Henderson, 78, of Gate City, VA, born June 13, 1948, in Kingsport, TN, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Alethea lived a life centered on devotion to those she loved. She retired as a postal worker with the United States Postal Service, a role that reflected her steady commitment and faithful service. She also attended Catron's Chapel Church, where her life was rooted in faith and fellowship. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed.
She shared 54 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Jim Henderson, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Velma McDavid; her father, William McDavid; and her brother, Joel McDavid.
Alethea’s memory will be cherished by her brother, Reve McDavid, and his wife, Vanessa; her son, Jeff Henderson, and his wife, Kim, and her daughter, Lisa Harrison, and her husband, Gabe. She was a proud grandmother to Josh Henderson and his wife, Danielle; Aaron Henderson and his wife, Emily; Matthew Mathes; Andrew Mathes; and Zack Harrison. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces, Laura McDavid and Noel McCurry, and by her nephew, Will McDavid. In each of these family bonds, Alethea leaves a legacy of love that will continue to be felt for years to come.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. with Pastor Larry Tolley officiating. Music will be provided by the Hensley Family. Friends are welcome to gather at 2:50 pm at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be her Grandsons and Will McDavid.
Alethea Anne Henderson will be remembered with deep affection and gratitude by all who knew her. Her love for her family, her faithful presence, and the kindness she carried through her life will remain a lasting blessing.
