Adam Dwight Spivey, 50, of Gate City, VA, a devoted family man, proud veteran, and hard-working professional, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Gate City, Virginia on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. Born on October 17, 1975, in Kingsport, Tennessee, Adam was a lifelong resident of the region.
Adam graduated from Gate City High School in 1994, where he laid the foundation for a life characterized by dedication and service. He honorably served his country as an Army Scout from August 1995 to August 1998, demonstrating courage and commitment during his military tenure. Following his service, Adam pursued a career as a logger and truck driver, professions that reflected his strong work ethic and connection to the land.
Known for his love of the outdoors, Adam enjoyed fishing and hunting, pursuits that brought him joy and relaxation throughout his life. His passion for nature was shared with family and friends who fondly remember his stories and his deep appreciation for the simple pleasures of life.
Adam is survived by his loving wife, Denise Castle Spivey; He was a devoted father to his son, Kevin Spivey (Gloria) as well as a proud grandfather to Amelia and Jaylynn. His mother, Carolyn Spivey, remains a source of strength and support, alongside his brother, Jason Spivey. Adam also leaves behind a circle of beloved relatives, including his aunts Phyllis Spivey-Still and Geneva Stidham, uncles Junior Darnell (Mary) and Jerry Darnell (Toddy), and several cousins who all remember him with affection and respect.
The close friendships Adam fostered over the years were equally meaningful. He was treasured by Otis Wagers, Verlin Fields, Dana Williams, John Fischer, and Lindsay Fischer, among others who consider themselves fortunate to have known him. Adam's dogs, Roxie and Diesel.
Adam was preceded in death by his father, Edward Lynn Spivey, and his grandparents Ama Lee Spivey, William Darnell, and Ila Darnell, whose memories live on in the hearts of their descendants.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the House of Refuge Baptist Church, 357 Highland Street, Gate City, VA. Immediately following visitation, a Celebration of Life will commence at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Casteel and Rev. Jerry Smith officiating. Music will be provided by Lisa and Mark McCracken.

His unwavering devotion to family, dedication to his country, and zest for the outdoor life will forever remain a testament to a remarkable man who lived with integrity and heart.
